What is the evidence of access to higher education for foreign university the HUB requires?
Access to higher education depends from country to country. Sometimes it’s included in the diploma secondary education, like in Belgium. Sometimes you need to do an entrance exam in order to be eligible to go to university in your home country.
In order to know for sure how it is organized in the country where you got your secondary education diploma, please check: http://www.unesco.org/iau/onlinedatabases/ . This is the website we use.
Is this a must for admission to HUB?
Yes, it is.
Yes, you do need to fulfil the mathematics requirement, since we look at the country of origin of your diploma and not your nationality.
What can I do in order to improve my knowledge of mathematics?
The book “Intermediate Algebra of M.L. Lial, J. Hornsby and T. McGinnis, published by Addison-Wesley” is used in the mathematics preparatory course. If you are really motivated, you can start with this one. You can also take a look at the website of the brushing-up course.
There is an assessment for mathematics at the start of the academic year. Based on the results students are advised the take the slow or fast track in mathematics. The slow track is double the hours of the fast track. At the end of the year both groups of students have attaind the same level.
Can I apply at your university without the SAT test?
All criteria, as mentioned in the admission requirements, need to be fulfilled in order to be eligible to study at HUBrussel, including the SAT-test.
Do I have to take the SAT Reasoning Test, or can I take the SAT Subject Test - Mathematics Level 1 or 2, ( if I can then how high should the minimum score be?)
We advise you to take the SAT Reasoning Test Math, instead of subject tests: Mathematics Level 1 or 2. The latter ones are more difficult. You find the information of the minimum score on our web, but for SAT Reasoning Test Math your score should be 520.
I don’t have my secondary school diploma yet. Can I already apply?
You do not have to wait to apply until you get your diploma. You can send an application earlier and add a provisional letter issued by your secondary school/high school saying that you will graduate.
After successfully completing BBA at HUB, will I be admitted for an MBA in a university in the USA?
If BBA-students would like to enter a Belgian university with their BBA-degree, they probably would need to follow extra courses in order to have the same prerequisites. BBA-graduates can immediately start the HUB MBA-programmes.
The US counts in credits hours, wherear European countries work with ECTS credits. Your BBA degree counts 180 ECTS credits at the time of successfully completing your degree programme. It means every year 60 ECTS credit, so three year of study. The equivalent of one year study in US is 30 US credit hours, i.e. 1 US credit hour = 2 ECTS. This is how the system (USA/Flanders) relate to each other , there's no way to change this.
So, in order to obtain transfer of courses, you will need to combine several related courses of HUB, until you obtain the 'size' of the US course. Suppose you have 6 ECTS credits for one or more related courses at HUB, then that will be the equivalent of a US course worth 3 US credit hours.
If your degree is recognised and accredited by the official educational authorities in the country in which it was awarded, it will be recognised in any other country as a valid degree. However, some employers ask to go through the 'equivalence procedure', during which a department of the ministry of education will determine if the degree obtained is equivalent to a degree awarded by the country concerned. In almost all European countries this will be the case. If you would like to go outside of Europe, it is best to check but this is the case with any degree you obtain in any country. Example: usually American MBA degrees are accepted by all employers, but some of them may ask to go through the equivalence procedure just to be sure. This will more often be the case, of course, with more 'exotic' degrees than with American or European ones.
