Cost of living
Living standards are quite high in Belgium. For a student, an annual budget of about 11,000 euro is necessary.
Travel expenses and expenses linked to lodging constitute the largest sum of money. Apart from that, expenses depend on your life-style and on the fact whether you are entitled to services offered by the University.
Monthly expenses
- Accommodation: 400 euro for 20m² (small flat) in city centre.
- Public transportation (bus/metro/tram/train): within Brussels, you use the same ticket. 1,70 euro for one trip ticket.
- Food: 200 euro
- Health insurance and medical fees: 30 euro
- Energy & Heating: 100 euro (if not included in the rental contract)
- Common bills: Internet: 30euro; TV: 20 euro; Mobile: 20 euro
