Sports

Brussels offers plenty of options for visitors who have overindulged in fine chocolate and need to lose a few kilos or for those who like sports:

Jogging: There are excellent jogging routes through beautiful greenways such as Brussels Park and Parc du Cinquantenaire.

Cycling is immensely popular in Belgium, both as a sport and a hobby. The country has a great cycling terrain, while Brussels hosts the many national cycling meets, having also been a stop-off point for the Tour de France. Find out more here.

A bicycle is the quickest way to move around in Brussels. It is even pleasant to visit the city or to go on a trip by bicycle. There are several bikes available for free on each campus. For more information, please go to the infodesk of your campus.

Swimming: There are plenty of swimming pools in Brussels’ sports centres. The one at the Centre Sportif de Woluwe St Pierre is Olympic-sized. At Oceade there is a tropical ‘fun’ bath, within splashing distance of Mini Europe.

Fitness: The vast Golden Club offers weight machines and fitness classes.  As a HUBrussel student you can work out at a reduced rate in the Fitness Palace Brussels (close to South station). Click here for more information or contact Mr. Roel Le Compte. For all kind of sport facilities (climbing, swimming, tennis, fitness), we recommend you to visit Passage Fitness. It has hundreds of clubs in Belgium.

Most golf courses are outside Brussels and the Royal Belgian Golf Federation can provide information on full-size golf courses in Belgium. The best 18-hole course in Brussels itself is the Royal Amicale Anderlecht Golf Club.

Skiing and snowboarding are possible on the artificial slopes of the Parc de Neerpede's Yeti Ski and Snowboard venue. You can take lessons and rent all the equipment you need. In winter, you can experience one of the world's most picturesque ice skating rinks, set up for just a few weeks at the Grand Place/Grote Markt in December.
