Insurances
An accident can happen more quickly than we think and medical costs or costs for hospitalization can quickly rise to an unforeseen amount. In order to avoid unexpected costs during your stay in Belgium, it is important to be covered by a number of insurances.
All residents of the country, Belgian or otherwise, are obliged by law to be covered by a health insurance policy. Therefore, health insurance that covers the full period of your stay, starting on the day of your arrival is compulsory for all international students who will stay in Belgium for more than 3 months.
For non-European Economic Area students it is also compulsory to have a Third Party Liability Insurance. Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel has taken out a collective Third Party Liability Insurance Policy for non-EEA students. You do not need to make any additional arrangements, once you are registered as a student at HUB, you are automatically covered by this policy.
Students from the European Economic Area are exempted from taking out this policy if they can prove coverage of a civil liability policy in their home country that covers their stay in Belgium.
Proof of adequate insurance is a precondition for enrollment at Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel.
