Luggage

When packing your suitcase, keep the Belgian weather in mind. Our moderate climate is characterised by cool and humid summers (max. 30°C), and relatively mild and rainy winters (min. -5°C). Our weather is quite unpredictable though, so take your sun glasses as well as your umbrella and rainwear, of course. You can check the weather online.

Dress Code

Dress code at HUBrussel is mainly casual. For oral exams or graduation or other more official occasions it might be useful to have a more formal outfit in your suitcase.

Paper Size

If you want to bring ring binders, remember that the European paper standard is A4, and letter or legal paper sizes will be practically impossible to find.

Electricity

If you bring any electric or electronic appliance, make sure that they can be plugged to Belgian standard wall outlets (200 - 240V) or that they bear the CE mark. Otherwise, either you bring a suitable voltage regulator or you will end up carrying a lot of dead-weight for a couple of months. And don't forget your documents – see checklist!

Student Room

If you are planning to rent a room, it is important to keep the following in mind.  In most cases a standard student room is furnished.  This means that it contains a bed with a mattress, a table/desk a chair, a washbowl, and sometimes bookshelves.  Bed linen (sheets, blankets, pillow) is not available nor are kitchen utensils (plates, glasses, cuttlery, ...), so you will have to bring this with you or buy this once you have arrived in Brussels.

Last but not least ... remember that you are visiting a country different from your own. So bring an open-mind, your patience, your courage, your best attitude, and your nicest smile. Success guaranteed!
