HUB team ranks 3rd in the Warsaw Negotiation Round 2011

A team of three students from Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB) was ranked 3rd in the prestigious Warsaw Negotiation Round 2011.  MBA students S. Adnan Masood (Belgium), Miriam Weber (Austria) and Elena Sokolova (Russia) entered into a negotiation competition with 10 other teams from leading business and law schools, such as China Europe International Business School - CEIBS (China), Corvinus University of Budapest (Hungary), Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and Simon Fraser University (Canada).
The second edition of WNR2011 was organised between 6 – 9 May 2011 at  the renowned business school in Poland, the Warsaw School of Economics.

All WNR2011 teams took part in four negotiation rounds. After each round the participants were granted points on the basis of their final negotiation result.

Overview of ranking for the HUB team:
Round 1: 2 (Mediation challenge)
Round 2: 1 (3 spice sales people against 3 purchasers)
Round 3: 1 (Two architects and partners negotiating over contract details)
Round 4: 6 (A joint venture between two parts of a family, both owning a vineyard)

“We learnt a lot from the negotiation competition – not only about negotiation techniques in practice but also about strategy and intercultural negotiation. When we received our diploma the organizers showed their appreciation, pointing out that it was a delight watching us negotiate and that they really hoped to see us again for the next challenge. We are very proud and thankful to bring the third place home to Belgium and even more to HUB, which we were really glad to represent. Last but not least we would like to thank the WNR team for its outstanding organization and challenging tasks as well as the other teams for being a joy to negotiate with.” (Adnan, Miriam and Elena)

The students were able to participate with the help of HUB.
