Centre for Research in Syntax, Semantics and Phonology (CRISSP)

The Centre for Research in Syntax, Semantics and Phonology (CRISSP) is a platform for cooperation between formal linguists working or living in Belgium. It organizes the following events:

-  a yearly international conference - the Brussels Conference on Generative Linguistics or BCGL - with publication of proceedings;

-  a yearly lecture series at which speakers from other universities are invited to come and give talks in Brussels

  • 6 November 2007: Ora Matushansky (CNRS): The syntax and semantics of proper names
  • 27 November  2007: Liliane Haegeman (University of Lille): The syntax of adverbial clauses
  • 4 March  2008: Artemis Alexiadou (University of Stuttgart): Nominal structure and aspect - a yearly week of lectures by an internationally renowned linguist:
  • April 1-4, 2008: Hagit Borer (USC): The Brussels Borer Lectures ;
- workshops;

- co-hosted conferences (ConSOLE XV 11-13 January 2007; Taaldag Belgische Kring voor Linguïstiek 26 April 2008)

- coaching of graduate students working towards a PhD in linguistics;

- informal meetings where members can present their work or discuss that of others.
