Team Project: SOS Kinderdorpen
One of the recent Entrepreneurial Learning projects was an awareness campaign for SOS Kinderdorpen, organized by a team of six first year students of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme, together with multiple European sprinting champion and Olympic silver winner Kim Gevaert, who is the NGO’s ambassador
The event took place at the H. Hart primary school in Leuven. During one day the pupils experienced how a regular school day looks like for children in R.D. Congo. The BBA students were there to lead activities such as: making your own toys from scratch, cooking and tasting a real African meal, learning to play the djembe and games with self-made toys.
Irina, Azerbaijan:
“The aim for the children is to compare their lives to that of African children and to be aware of the difficulties some Congolese children face.
We consider this project important because it teaches us how to behave in real-live situations. I am sure that in our professional life we will face the same problems as we are facing in our team. This is the perfect exercise to learn more about your strengths and weaknesses and how to behave in real-life situations.”
Kim Gevaert (ambassador for SOS Kinderdorpen): “as I see it Tim (one of the team members) and the others did a great job organizing this. As they enthusiastically engaged SOS Kinderdorpen in this project, I’m visiting here to discover it as well.”
SOS Kinderdorpen is an international NGO that acts on world scale building homes and youth centres for disadvantaged children.
